Vern's first office was built at the location of his home at 841 N. Keystone St. in Burbank, California. It was here in 1948 where he started copying music for the Pied Pipers and arranger Skippy Martin. After a few years his name became known throughout many parts of Hollywood. In a short amount of time he was working for such big names as Frank Sinatra and Nelson Riddle.
Vern continued to work out of the small office on his home property until approximately 1954. He then relocated his office to Sunset Blvd. & Gower St., where he was within walking distance to the new home of Capitol Records.
